The tests were conducted using Ryzen 7 7800X3D entry level motherboard The performance differences are only a tiny difference!

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has recently entered the market. Although it is true that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is ambitious regarding performance, the processor was tested on a basic A620AM5 motherboard.

AMD launched it’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D 3D V-Cache processor just a couple of days ago. After the embargo was lifted, independent tests were also made available as well as it was found that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (120W TDP) was superior to its competitor Core i9 13900K/KS and its bigger brother, the Ryzen 7 7950X3D. The processor is being tested on AMD’s entry level A620 motherboard.

Checked out using Ryzen 7 , 7800X3D and A620, and the X670 platform

AMD’s AM5 motherboards featuring the A620 chip were designed to be entry-level for 65W Ryzen processors. Yet, AMD also allows manufacturers to offer higher TDPs on A620 motherboards. YouTuber Minger has tried this with different motherboards. The results are amazing.

In the tests in the tests, the performance of Ryzen 7 7800X3D (4.2 GHz-5GHz) was compared with the more expensive X670 and A620, which is the entry-level model. DDR5 6000 memory was used for both platforms. The most obvious difference is in the speed of the processor. On the X670 platform it was evident that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D was able to achieve 4.9 Ghz levels. However on the A620 platform, this figure was in the range of 4.6 GHz. The power used in the testing was around 81W for the A620, and 95W in the X670.

This is not enough

The performance gap is small. The performance difference in tests that simulate the real world is about 5 percent but the actual difference is as low in games at 3 percent. In light of the fact it is the case that X670 series motherboards cost costlier, the A620 models appear to be the better choice due to the difference in performance. For those who want the 7800X3D Ryzen motherboard model, it is advisable to use a B650 Series motherboard which is priced at $20-25 higher than A620 is a better choice. Since there isn’t any power limit in this case, the performance gap will not be on any significant amount. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D can be described as one of the most powerful CPUs AMD has ever produced. Its superior performance for its cost is what makes it an appealing game processor.
