TSMC will spend $11 billion to build its first European facility
TSMC, the Taiwanese semiconductor company, has begun work on its first production facility in Europe. The chipmaker may partner with Bosch to build the plant using the 28nm technology.
TSMC continues to increase its production volume. Digitimes reports that the semiconductor giant has begun negotiations with Germany to build a new manufacturing facility in Germany worth 11 billion dollars.

According to reports, the new plant will be built in Germany. It will use TSMC’s 28 nm node of production and be TSMC’s first facility in Europe. The report claims that Robert Bosch and auto suppliers have begun negotiations with the giant manufacturer.
For those who do not know, the European Union has been working on a 43-billion euro Chip Law in order to increase European chip manufacturing and reduce dependence on US and Asian manufacturers due to global supply chain problems. This new facility will be built with an investment of over $11 billion, including government subsidies and partners like NXP Bosch, Infineon, and Bosch.
According to the details of the report, TSMC intends to focus its new facility on the automotive industry. Many manufacturers, such as Qualcomm Nvidia MediaTek, have announced their new investments. It is therefore not surprising that TSMC made this decision.
