The much-anticipated Dune 2 has been delayed until 2024.

Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated film Dune: Part 2 has been delayed until the end of the year following due to the ongoing strike of actors that has hindered the stars from promoting their films.

In a significant change to the film calendar for the box-office, star-studded ensemble for Denis Villeneuve’s very desired Dune: Part 2 or Dune 2 has been postponed until next year because of an unending Hollywood actor strike that has stopped the film’s promotion because of a dispute over employment.

Dune 2 release date delayed

The Legendary, as well as Warner Bros’ big-budget sequel, Dune: Part 2 was set to release in the theaters on November 3. But, due to the strike Dune 2’s revised date was revealed as March 15 2024. Legendary, and Warner Bros. didn’t just put off the release of this film. They also pushed back Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire by one month until April 12 2024 (which was expected to be released on the day Dune was delayed, the 15th of March). In the same way, Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was moved between April 12, 2024, to December 13 2024.

Strike affects cinema

Dune 2 was the biggest loss so far in regards to the effects that the strikes had on the vision 2023 timeline and it’s not great news for the cinema industry, but the consequences could have been a lot worse. It is interesting the fact that Warner Bros. has kept three of its biggest films for December on its calendar: Wonka (December 15,), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20) and The Color Purple (December 25).

However, the film Dune featuring a stellar ensemble headed by Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya may be unable to reach its full potential at the box-office without the support of a global campaign from talented actor. Recent additions to Dune’s Dune series include Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Lea Seydoux. Remaining Dune stars are Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista and Charlotte Rampling.

In 2021, Villeneuve’s Dune has earned more than 402 million dollars at the global box office. This is a strong and encouraging figure considering the strains of the pandemic as well as being coming at HBO Max at the same as it’s on HBO Max. As an element of the Hollywood strike the actors are demanding fair compensation and remain a part of their union.
