Tested: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is faster than Apple A16

Qualcomm, one the largest mobile chip manufacturers in the world, is getting ready to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 this year. This chip is 11% faster according to new tests.

Qualcomm has been able to produce successful products in recent years with its chips. Samsung Exynos is now a distant memory. With the 8 Gen 3 chip, the company that beat Apple to the punch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be in the forefront once again.

8 Gen 3 tested on Geekbench 6

The engineering sample of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was compared with the Apple A16 in the last few months on Geekbench 5 This processor has passed another similar test. It was able to surpass the A16 during these tests. @korean_riceball shared Geekbench scores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The test was performed on a Xiaomi engineering model. In this test, the 8 Gen 3 scored 2563 points for single-core and 7256 points for multi-core. Apple A16 scores 2528 points for single-core and 6502 points for multi-core in the same test.

The new core configuration is responsible for the 11% increase in performance over the A16. This chipset, according to reports will feature a Cortex X4 core as well as 5 additional performance cores. Qualcomm’s 1+5+2 setup seems to have led to a significant increase in performance. The N4P process of TSMC will produce the processor. It will have no problems with energy efficiency or heating.

Apple will introduce its first 3nm mobile chip, the A17 Bionic before the end the year, despite Qualcomm’s new flagship being ahead of the A16. Apple’s A17 chip will get a performance boost with the 3nm technology.
