Cyberpunk 2077's Overdrive Mode will be the next Crysis for graphics card. Although the game has the full support of ray tracing however, even the strongest equipment will encounter a great deal of trouble.

Cyberpunk 2077, launched through CD Projekt Red in 2020 with issues of optimization and is currently experiencing its highest period in all ways since the update. “Path Tracing” support, often referred to as full ray tracking, is expected to be added in the games, and its sales are rising more than ever before. But it is not enough to even use using the RTX 4090 will be insufficient with these settings enabled.

Even RTX 4090 isn’t enough to support Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive

It was released in April 11th, this no-cost Cyberpunk 2077 update introduces Ray Tracing Overdrive mode into the game. In Path Tracing, ray tracing is active at every stage of the game, and the quality of the images is nearly tripled. Of course, this boost in quality is also a requirement for high processing power. The video on YouTube showcases the performance of the GeForce GTX 4090, which is the most powerful graphics card available. It seems like Cyberpunk 2077’s Overdrive Mode is going to be the next Crysis for graphics cards.

In 4K resolution, with DLSS disabled and RT activated The RTX 4090 is able to drop to 16 FPS from time moment. In the majority of cases it appears that the RTX 4090 appears to be lower than the playable levels. However it is when DLSS is turned on it causes a boost in performance. Ground speeds rise to 117-138 FPS. Cyberpunk 2077 “Overdrive Mode” also brings RTX Direct Illumination, a technology which can recreate the appearance of lighting from multiple ray-traced sources. By using RTXDI and full ray-tracing gamers can enjoy more realistic, smoother shadows that are based on different sources. This isn’t anything that has been done before in games that have the graphics presented and the right progression of the lighting.
