Sega acquires Angry Birds developer Rovio

The Japanese-based gaming giant Sega acquired Angry Birds producer Rovio for $776 million. The deal, which had been speculated for months was ratified on the day before.

It was so popular it had 200 million monthly users in the first quarter of 2014, debuted as television series as well as two feature films as its development. In a statement regarding the topic, Sega said, “We aim to leverage Rovio’s distinctive know-how in the live service mobile game operation to bring Sega’s existing and new games to the global mobile game market.” In light of this statement, one can conclude that Sega will Japanese giant is planning to expand its games selection in the mobile game market.
